Leuchars: St Athernase Church of Scotland windows renovation
16/Apr/2010
The minister and congregation of the parish church in Leuchars have a beautiful and historic building in which to worship. We also have to maintain it to a high standard, for our own sake and for the hundreds of visitors who come from all over the world to see our 12th century Norman architecture.
Renovation work is about to begin on the windows, under the direction of well known stained glass artist and conservator, Christian Shaw, whose report highlights the fact that 2 of the windows in particular are in need of extensive work as a matter of urgency, and 12 of the remaining 17 windows require a greater or lesser degree of repair.
The total cost will be in the region of £12,500 and the Congregational Board has launched an appeal as it is hoped this money can be raised without recourse to external funding bodies.
If you would like to contribute, please send a cheque, payable to Leuchars: St Athernase Church of Scotland, to the Congregational Treasurer: Miss S M T Duncan, 21 Main Road, Balmullo, ST ANDREWS, Fife KY16 0AE.
