This is an appalling decision for all concerned. As a community we need to come together and fight this stupid and ill conceived application and approval from the Pharmacy Practices Committee. Something about the whole thing stinks and the commitee should hang their heads in shame. We have already fought and won this particular skirmish once for very good and just reasons and the latest decision was crazy. I just wonder WHO has benefitted from this approval and in what way? Not us the Leuchars and Balmullo Community for sure.

What services will be lost first, will we be able to get swine flu vaccinations?

I have to agree with Jill's comments above. The needs of the general public and the weaker members of our community, ie mostly the older and ill are being pushed aside for no good reason. This is discrimination against the less able. The young ones, who mostly only need prscriptions for the contraceptive pill, asthma and an occasional antibiotic for a chest infection can manage OK. Others, but mainly the elderly and geriatrics have the biggest problems---many or(?most)of these are on long term medication and also have mobility problems. The PPC should acknowledge this and try to make life as easy as possible for them---not make it more difficult or impossible. Is that not what good healthcare should be aiming for? The PPC's decision is disastrous.

What about the Leuchars residents who dont use the practise, great news to be able to get a prescription from another source rather than having to travel to Newport/Tayport/St.Andrews, its a free trade world and the surgery should NOT be making any money of precriptions they are there to treat people, medicine is not a business, roll on the pharmacy in the post office

Re Comments 2 & 4.....why wouldn't you be able to get your swine flu vac? and it would be extra services like physiotherapy, midwife phlebotomist, psychologist and any other professionals who visit the surgery to offer clinics so you don't have to travel to get seen!!! and Supportive resident, if anyone who felt that way what is stopping you from registering at the Surgery? then you wouldn't have to travel to get anything. Bizarre!

The decision announced over the last few days is outrageous. Where do we go from here? I for one will be delighted to undertake whatever may be required to try and change this manifestly wrong decision for the community.
