RAF Leuchars Bonfire and Fireworks Display
The RAF Leuchars Bonfire and Fireworks Display has been taking place since after WW2. Traditionally this event was the remit of the Station Armourers who would make their own fireworks from black powder and various metals to give different coloured effects. These would be supplemented by out of life flares and other pyrotechnics which were no longer suitable for operational use.
While some of these traditions have changed in the interest of safety over the years, the actual event has continued to be one of the Station?s main annual events. This year was no exception with several hundred people and children from the Station as well as the local community enjoying the large bonfire and fireworks display which was held on Thursday 5 Nov at the Earlshall Playing Fields. The event was a resounding success and was the culmination of a significant team effort with many Station sections contributing to the preparation and running of the event.
