Charity high jump raises £3,000

RAF Leuchars personnel raised £3,000 for charity after being for the high jump. Sixteen people from the base successfully completed a charity abseil from the Forth Rail Bridge last month to raise the cash for the RAF Benevolent Fund.

The Leuchars team was participating in an event organised by Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland which involved a 165ft 'SAS' style abseil from the rail level.

All displayed a good head for heights, while each member of the team did their own fundraising.

Air Commodore Harry Atkinson, station commander, said: "RAF Leuchars has strong links to the local community in Fife and across Scotland and supports a number of national, Scottish and local charities.

As such, this event is not unusual but forms part of a wider programme of activities, events and services the we provide to support the local community in different ways, and raises around £20,000 per year for deserving causes.
