GMTV Celebrity Ben Shepard meets stars of naked calendar
Hunky GMTV presenter Ben Shephard delighted kids and mums alike after dropping in to a Fife nursery today. The celebrity dad of two was guest of honour at a ceremony to mark the installation of protective sunshades in the playground of the Bright Horizons Day Care Centre in Leuchars.
Ben, 33, was pleased to meet the group of brave nursery mums who are raising money for the £10,000 shade sails after stripping off for a Scottish-themed naked calendar.
Since September 2007, the nursery?s fundraising committee has tried coffee mornings, prize draws, car boot and bring-and-buy sales to raise cash for the shades but hope the classy 2009 calendar featuring them enjoying traditional outdoor pursuits will prove the main money spinner.
Ben Shephard said: "Having two toddlers myself, I know only too well how much they love playing outside but also how important safety in the sun is. The effort that has gone into raising the money for the new canopies is awesome. It is going to make a huge difference for all the children that come here, so they can carry on enjoying the brilliant facilities without any risk from the sun.
?I have always been really useless with calendars, forgetting to write stuff in and rarely bothering to look at it. Not any more! Having got my copy of the Barely Respectable Calendar in prime position in the kitchen I doubt I will be late for anything ever again!".
Bright Horizons fund-raising group member, Kate Sington, said: ?It has been a busy year of fund-raising and we are delighted to put up the first shade sails in time for the new school term, thanks in large part to our Calendar Girls-style calendar which has become a real talking-point in the local area.?
The calendar has received strong support from local businesses, with sponsorship from Aliya Rose Bridal & Eveningwear, Andy Bradbury Gardening Services, Arnold Clark Motors, Cupar Garden Centre, Lily Wigglesworth Bags, Pagan Osbourne, The Revival Company, The Scottish Shop, Strutt & Parker, and the Tullibardine Distillery, among others.
