Night Flying Training at RAF Leuchars
Due to operational and training commitments 3 Black Hawk helicopters will carry out night flying training from RAF Leuchars from Friday 30 October through to Saturday 7 November 2009.
This training is essential to the effectiveness of our aircrew and their ability to meet the United Kingdom and overseas defence commitments. Every effort will be made to minimise the disturbance to those in the local area and we ask for their indulgence while we carry out this essential training.
The Royal Air Force could not be more necessary to current and potential operations.
At home, at RAF Leuchars, the last remaining Tornado F3 Fighter, Treble One (Fighter) Squadron (Tremblers) provide aircraft, crews and engineers on quick reaction alert (QRA) 24/7 to scramble and intercept intruders in our airspace, as they have done on more than 20 occasions in the last year. Day in and day out, both at home and abroad we defend the nations interests.
The successful transition to Typhoon is RAF Leuchars main effort. The first of, probably 3 Typhoon Squadrons is coming to RAF Leuchars in October 2010, reinforcing the unit?s bright future. Major infrastructure and personnel development are a vital part of this exciting time.
